Extra Trips. b. Regular Drivers desiring to take trips shall sign up at first Bus Drivers' Meeting held either prior to or on the opening day of school. Any Driver may join or remove themselves from the list at any time. All extra trips (Educational and Athletic/Group) shall be posted on one (1) list.
c. Eligible Drivers shall be offered trips at a monthly field trip meeting on a seniority rotating basis. Between monthly meetings, trips shall be offered by phone or radio, on a seniority basis.
d. If a Driver cancels a trip they agreed to drive, the trip will be offered to the next driver (who does not have a trip assigned) on a seniority basis from the canceled trip list.
e. Drivers may not exchange trips.
f. Drivers taking a group trip which involves an admission price and/or parking fee shall be covered by the group sponsoring the trip.
g. In the event none of the eligible Drivers on the seniority rotation list are available to take a trip, the Drivers on the as-needed list will be asked. If no regular Drivers are available, then a Sub will be asked. If no Regular or Sub Drivers can take a trip, the Transportation Supervisor will appoint a Driver, starting with the least senior Driver on the DO WANT trips list.
h. The Board may use the radio to contact Drivers for trips. Drivers must make the decision to drive or not to drive the offered trip within two (2) hours.
i. If at all possible, the trips will be scheduled around two (2) weeks in advance.
j. If a Driver shows up for a trip, and has not been notified the trip has been canceled, or a coach/advisor transports students, the Driver will be paid for two (2) regular hours and the driver will not be charged for the trip.
k. If a Driver's trip date is changed, the scheduled Driver will stay on the trip. If the trip is canceled completely, the driver will be inserted next up the seniority rotation. The inserted driver shall not be taken out of rotation for forthcoming trips.
l. If an Athletic Trip is canceled mid-event, the driver will be paid for the actual number of hours on duty; if rescheduled, the rescheduled event will be a new trip on the rotation list and the driver will be paid for the actual number of hours on duty.
m. If a driver is on the insert list and already has a trip on the same day as a newly offered trip, the driver will stay on the insert list until a trip is offered for a day the driver is not already schedule to drive an extra trip.
n. Any driver who cancels an extra trip two (2) or more times in a given month shall be skipped in the next rotation.
o. Pay for extra trips will begin after the driver’s regular route time and will be at the driver’s regular rate of pay for up to two and one-half (2.5) hours for driver time and pre-empting trip. The remaining portion of regular runs by drivers who wish to take the route will be at the Step 0 base rate.
p. Overnight trips shall be considered special trips with reimbursement determined on an individual basis.
q. Drivers on Leaves of Absences are not eligible for extra trips.
9.7.3 Trips r. Drivers are to be dated as they are received by the Transportation Office. All extra trips shall be awarded to the most senior appropriate driver signing the “Trip Board.” If the extra trip is posted before a driver’s regular run clock-out time, the driver has until the driver’s next regular run clock-in time to reply. If there is no reply, the dispatcher shall assign the extra trip to the next senior driver on the sign-up sheet.
9.7.4 Drivers shall not be eligible for extra trips during periods of absence due to illness. Drivers absent for personal illness on the last working day before a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday trip shall not be eligible to drive such trip days on which they have called in and will lose his/her turn on the list until the process begins anew. Drivers absent for other reasons will be able to drive such trips provided they contact the Transportation Office by 3:30 p.m. on the last working day prior to the scheduled trip to verify their availability and confirm the start time of the tripare off.

Extra Trips. All
A. Field trips other than regular runs or supplemental runs and extra trip drivers shall be awarded selected and assigned to a roster of interested drivers according and the name of those on the roster shall be placed in order of seniority with the driver with the greatest seniority being assigned the first such field trip or extra trip. Future trips will be assigned on a rotating basis and will not be reset at the beginning of the school year. Those interested in being placed on the Band, Extra Curricular and/or Athletic trip rosters should sign up between August 1st and September 15th at the location and venue designated by the Transportation Supervisor.
B. In the event extra trips cannot be filled from the voluntary list or the trip requires more drivers than on the voluntary list, the school's Transportation Director will go to a list composed of the remaining drivers, requesting the most senior driver(s) to take the needed additional bus(es). If all drivers on the list refuse, then the Transportation Director will require the junior available driver to take the trip. The forcing of the junior driver will rotate up the list until all drivers have been required at least once to take a trip.
C. There shall be a different gate system set up for late trips. The upper smaller gate could possibly be used, or a motor closure system provided for the large gate. All drivers shall have a key to the following procedures:gate system.
9.7.1 D. There shall be a separate restroom facility for the female drivers or an outside door.
E. All extra trips shall be assigned posted in compliance with a reasonable advance time on the following section bulletin board in the drivers room normally by Friday of this Agreementthe week preceding the run or trip. Any changes or additions must come directly from the Transportation Director or the Superintendent. Permission to make trades must receive prior approval of 24 hours. Since Bargaining unit drivers shall not be called at home unless the necessity for a driver falls under an emergency; provided, however, that no driver it is the driver’s responsibility to view the lists posted for extra trips. Buses shall be eligible to work more than forty (40) hours in any workweek, exclusive of hours worked on Saturday or Sunday, when another eligible driver is available and would not be put into overtime.
9.7.2 Assignment of extra trips shall be made on the basis of a “Trip Board.” The most senior driver who signs up assigned for the extra trip shall be awarded the trip. No driver may give up any extra trip or supplemental run or regular run previously awarded in order to take an extra trip, if Section 9.7.1 above would be violated. There shall be no pre-empting of regular runs by drivers who wish to take extra trips.
9.7.3 Trips are to be dated as they are received by the Transportation Office. F. All extra trips the driver shall be awarded paid on the following schedule:
1. Groups of 10 or less need not be assigned.
2. Trips of 1 to 5 hours in length shall be paid at the rate of $60.00. Additional hours over 5 shall be paid at a rate of twelve dollars ($12.00). Effective October 2020, trips of 1 to 5 hours in length shall be paid at a rate of sixty-five dollars ($65.00). Additional hours over 5 shall be paid at a rate of thirteen dollars ($13.00).
3. Drivers will be allowed to trade runs with proper notification to the most senior appropriate driver signing Transportation Director.
G. Provisions of Article 20 shall not be subject to the “Trip BoardGrievance Procedure.” If
H. Drivers who report for an extra trip and that extra trip is cancelled by Chesapeake Union Exempted Village Schools will be paid two (2) hours at twelve dollars ($12.00) per hour reporting pay. Effective October 2020, drivers who report for an extra trip and that extra trip is cancelled by Chesapeake Union Exempted Village Schools will be paid two (2) hours at thirteen dollars ($13.00) per hour reporting pay.
I. Drivers assigned to the vocational run shall receive an extra supplemental payment of $17.00 per day.
J. Bargaining unit members must sign up for extra trips between August 1st and September 15th of each school year. Trips will be awarded under paragraph A. above. Once a bargaining unit member has signed up on the extra trip is posted before a driver’s regular run clock-out timelist, the driver has until the driver’s next regular run clock-in time to reply. If there is no reply, the dispatcher they shall assign the extra trip to the next senior driver on the sign-up sheet.
9.7.4 Drivers shall not be eligible for extra trips during periods of absence due to illness. K. Bargaining unit members who are approved for overnight trips will submit receipts for meals up to a maximum of $32.50.
L. The Board of Education will abide by the Fair Labor Standards as it relates to calculating hours of work on overnight trips involving sleep time. Drivers absent for other reasons Eight (8) hours uninterrupted sleep time will be able to drive such trips provided they contact the Transportation Office by 3:30 p.m. on the last working day prior to the scheduled trip to verify their availability and confirm the start time of the tripgiven each driver with no duties as assigned as a driver during this eight (8) hours.
9.7.5 The dispatch book shall be made available for driver viewing by the Transportation Office.

Extra Trips. A. All extra trips, for driver consideration, will be by seniority at the first extra trip meeting, and by least accumulated extra trip hours thereafter. If an extra trip is scheduled with an estimated number of hours greater than four (4) and after the trip has been assigned the driving hours are significantly reduced, the driver has until will receive their regular hourly pay at a minimum of four (4) hours or 50% of the driver’s next estimated number of hours when the trip was assigned. This section will be evaluated and considered for renegotiation after the conclusion of the 09/10 school year.
D. Normally, extra trips will be disbursed and drivers will be assigned on Fridays. Priority for trip selection will be based on the amount of hours accumulated by extra trips taken. The driver with the lowest hours will have the first option to select extra trips (if driver hours are tied, the senior driver will have first option). The driver must be present to bid an extra trip unless the driver is working or on an extra or regular run clock-in time to reply. If there is no reply, the dispatcher shall assign the extra trip to the next senior driver on the sign-up sheetfor Xxxx Xxxx Community Schools.
9.7.4 E. Drivers shall who elect not be eligible for extra trips during periods of absence due to illness. 3. New drivers when assigned a regular run will be entered on the trip roster if they desire and qualify, and they will be assessed the number of trip hours equal to the driver who has the most hours at that time.
4. At the beginning of the school year the trips will be assigned to those drivers on a seniority basis. After the first round of trips the trips will be assigned to the drivers with the least amount of "extra hours" accumulated to date.
a. These extra hours are to be dated recorded on the appropriate form and brought up to date and posted weekly in the bus garage.
b. Two (2) drivers in the unit will become responsible for assigning drivers for extra trips.
c. These two (2) individuals will be responsible for assigning all extra trip drivers except those which arise due to an emergency. 6. Overtime that is refused by a bargaining unit member who has suffered injury on the job will not be charged against him/her on the trip roster for one (1) calendar year. 7. Whenever possible, extra trips will be assigned a minimum of twelve (12) hours in advance of scheduled trip.
8. Only extra trip hours and overtime hours (hours paid at the time and one-half overtime rate) will be charged to the employee on the trip chart for driver viewing by the Transportation Officepurpose of balancing extra trips.
9. When possible, MESPA I bargaining unit members will be used on field trips and extra work before other District employees, provided the time is not overtime.

Extra Trips. All 1. Extra trips other than regular runs will normally be posted by 9:00 a.m. on a Friday. The posting shall include the estimated departure and return time for each trip. Drivers who are interested in being awarded one or supplemental runs more of the trips must submit a ballot (See Appendix B) for those trips by 7 a.m. the following Tuesday. Said ballot shall be in writing and shall list, in rank order, the extra trips for which the driver wishes to be considered. The ballot shall be signed and dated by the driver submitting it. Bargaining unit members shall retain a copy of their ballots. Trips shall be awarded by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The parties recognize that the Employer may receive late orders for extra trips. In such event, the Employer shall attempt to follow seniority rotation, provided drivers according having rotation priority are available for extra trips. There shall be two trip lists - the regular trip list and a "late" list for any extra trips that are requested after the close of business on Monday. If a trip is canceled, the driver who had been awarded that trip shall not move, but shall continue to hold the following procedures:

9.7.2 Assignment of extra trips shall be made on the basis of a “Trip Board.” The most senior driver who signs up (of the week) having first choice of available extra trip runs for the week (i.e., six trips, six drivers, the most senior driver may select any one of the available runs until all six trips have been selected). The remaining driver(s) will be at the top of the rotation for the next available trips. If a driver cancels an extra trip due to an emergency or illness, that regular driver can bid on any trips that are not assigned after all regular drivers have bid and trips have been awarded. If any trips are left after all remaining drivers have had an opportunity to bid, then those will be offered to a substitute driver.
3. Drivers are to honor their signatures when accepting extra trip assignments. If not, they shall be awarded excluded from all extra trips for a one
(1) week period, except in emergency conditions approved by the trip. No driver may give up any extra trip or supplemental run or regular run previously awarded in order to take an extra trip, if Section 9.7.1 above would be violatedEmployer. There shall be no pre-empting trading of extra trips. In emergencies, the driver must notify the Employer at the earliest possible time to be excused. An extra trip that must be reassigned due to an emergency or because someone has abandoned his/her signature will go first to the next driver (next to the driver being excused) on the regular runs by list rotation who originally bid on the same extra trip. The order of rotation shall be followed until the trip is reassigned or until all drivers who wish to take originally bid on that extra trips.
9.7.3 Trips are to be dated as they are received by the Transportation Officetrip have turned it down. 5. Driver Rate (effective July 1, 2023): Drivers shall not be eligible paid their regular hourly rate of pay for extra trips during periods of absence due to illness. Drivers absent for personal illness on the last working day before a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday trip shall not be eligible to drive such trip and will lose his/her turn on the list until the process begins anew. Drivers absent for other reasons will be able to drive such trips provided they contact the Transportation Office by 3:30 p.m. on the last working day prior up to the scheduled first two (2) hours. For any trip to verify their availability exceeding two (2) hours, the driver will receive Seventeen Dollars and confirm Fifty Cents ($17.50) an hour for all other hours after the start time of the tripfirst two (2).

Trips will be assigned on Saturday or Sunday, when another eligible driver is available and would not be put into overtime.
9.7.2 Assignment of extra trips shall be made on the basis of a “Trip Board.” The most senior driver who signs up for the extra trip shall be awarded the trip. No driver may give up any extra trip or supplemental run or regular run previously awarded in order to take an extra trip, if Section 9.7.1 above would be violatedrotating seniority basis. There shall be no pre-empting of only one (1) trip list which will include day, evening and weekend trips. All extra trips shall be awarded to the most senior appropriate driver signing the “Trip Board.” If the extra trip is posted before a driver’s regular run clock-out time, the driver has until the driver’s next regular run clock-in time to reply. If there is no reply, the dispatcher shall assign the extra trip to the next senior driver on the sign-up sheet.
9.7.4 Drivers shall not be eligible for extra trips during periods of absence due to illness. B. The dispatch book assignment of an emergency field trip will not cause the “red line” to move on the rotation list. If a field trip assignment is canceled and the driver(s) is/are notified prior to reporting, for purposes of rotation, this will not be considered a trip taken and the driver will be eligible for the next trip that will not conflict with the driver’s regularly scheduled route. If a field trip assignment is canceled and the bus driver(s) is/are not notified prior to reporting to the assigned pickup point, the driver(s) shall receive two (2) hours minimum pay. For purposes of rotation, this will not be considered a trip taken and the driver will be eligible for the next trip that will not conflict with the driver’s regularly scheduled route. When a field trip necessitates the driver remaining out of the district overnight, the driver shall be made compensated for all driving time at his/her regular rate of pay, waiting time at one-half (1/2) the regular rate of pay and will not be compensated for eight (8) hours of sleep time. If a bus driver drives for a school connected organization other than the Board of Education (athletics, music group, club, etc.), the individual in charge of the trip shall make provision for the expenses of the driver, i.e., lunch, parking fee, lodging, etc. The Transportation Supervisor may schedule a split trip providing the waiting time at the field trip location would warrant this arrangement. The bus driver who is at the top of the rotation list can sign up for both parts of the split or either the first or second halves of the trip. If the person at the top of the rotation list decides to sign up for only one part of a split route, the other part of the split will be available for driver viewing to be driven by the Transportation Officenext person on the rotation list who wishes to sign up for that trip. Split trips (all or any part of a split) have the same effect on the person's rotation standing as a regular field trip. Waiting time (other than overnight trips) will be paid at the driver's regular rate of pay.

Extra Trips. All 21.1 Drivers shall not be paid less than one (1) hour’s wages for any extra trip.
21.2 Regular and substitute drivers may not sign up for more than two (2) extra trips other than in any one-day. Drivers may drive as many extra trips during any one-day as previously authorized or assigned. Substitute drivers must wait twenty-four (24) hours after an extra trip has been posted before they may sign up for the run. 9.7.4 Drivers shall not be eligible for extra trips during periods of absence due to illness. 9.7.3 Trips F. Extra trip drivers will be allowed a maximum total of 35 minutes per trip to prep bus, clean bus, and fuel bus. These 35 minutes includes being at point of departure 10 minutes before scheduled departure time.
G. Drivers will complete trip reports by maintaining a record of the starting and ending odometer reading and are required to be dated as they are received by record times out and in. Trip drivers will turn in reports to the Transportation OfficeSupervisor with the time sheets, unless a problem occurs during the trip then the report should be given to the Transportation Supervisor the next working day.
H. In the event of severe weather, a driver having concern regarding the advisability to taking a field trip will discuss the situation with Transportation Supervisor.
I. Drivers will take their assigned bus on all trips unless the Transportation Supervisor or Mechanic assigns another vehicle.
J. Drivers will be paid for one hour when trips are canceled after their arrival time. All This is not considered a trip on the roster, and the driver will be considered for the next available extra trip.
K. Expense money for FUEL, required admission, and miscellaneous expenses for extra trips shall may be awarded to secured in advance of the most senior appropriate scheduled departure. The driver signing the “Trip Boardmust provide slips for expenses within 24 hours upon return.”
L. Pay for overnight field trips will be computed as follows:
1. The driver will receive lodging and meals while at field trip destination. If the extra trip is posted before a driver’s regular run clock-out timegroup does not provide meals, the driver has until will be reimbursed for meals at the driver’s next regular run clock-meal rates set forth in time to replythe contract and upon submission of receipts. (e) Bus drivers will receive a taxable per diem meal stipend in the amount of $13.00 for any work that is four (4) consecutive hours in duration or longer. Qualification for per diem meal stipends must be notated on the drivers timesheet with approval from the Transportation Supervisor and submitted to payroll.
(f) It is agreed that the bus drivers who are transporting students to co- curricular events will be admitted to the game/event free of charge.
(g) Out-of-town field trips shall have at least one (1) adult chaperone on the bus, with the driver to be responsible for informing all of the passengers of the required safety rules.
(h) Overnight trips shall be paid at the extra trip is posted before rate, except during the hours when the driver would be driving their regular route, for which regular route pay shall prevail. Calculation of hours shall be from the time the bus leaves until the final stop that day.

Extra Trips. 1. Extra trips will normally be posted by 9:00 a.m. on a Friday. The posting shall include the estimated departure and return time for each trip. Drivers who are interested in being awarded one or more of the trips must submit a ballot (See Appendix B) for those trips by 7 a.m. the following Tuesday. Said ballot shall be in writing and shall list, in rank order, the extra trips for which the driver wishes to be considered. The ballot shall be signed and dated by the driver submitting it. Bargaining unit members shall retain a copy of their ballots. Trips shall be awarded by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The parties recognize that the Employer may receive late orders for extra trips. In such event, the Employer shall attempt to follow seniority rotation, provided drivers having rotation priority are available for extra trips. There shall be two trip lists - the regular trip list and a "late" list for any extra trips that are requested after the close of business on Monday. If a trip is canceled, the driver who had been awarded that trip shall not move, but shall continue to hold the same place in the rotation on the regular list. All late trips other than shall be filled through the normal late list rotation.
2. Extra trip rotation shall be by seniority [except as provided in paragraphs 1 and 3 of this section], with the most senior driver (of the week) having first choice of available extra trip runs for the week (i.e., six trips, six drivers, the most senior driver may select any one of the available runs until all six trips have been selected). The remaining driver(s) will be at the top of the rotation for the next available trips. If a driver cancels an extra trip due to an emergency or illness, that regular driver can bid on any trips that are not assigned after all regular drivers have bid and trips have been awarded. If any trips are left after all remaining drivers have had an opportunity to bid, then those will be offered to a substitute driver.
3. Drivers are to honor their signatures when accepting extra trip assignments. If not, they shall be excluded from all extra trips for a one ( 1) week period, except i n emergency conditions approved by the Employer. There shall be no trading of extra trips. In emergencies, the driver must notify the Employer at the earliest possible time to be excused. An extra trip that must be reassigned due to an emergency or because someone has abandoned his/her signature will go first to the next driver (next to the driver being excused) on the regular list rotation who originally bid on the same extra trip. The order of rotation shall be followed until the trip is reassigned or until all drivers who originally bid on that extra trip have turned it down. If the extra trip cannot be filled according to the above process, the trip shall be posted to the late list for assignment. If the trip still remains unfilled after exhaustion of the late list; it shall be assigned to a substitute driver.
4. Whenever a driver is assigned an extra trip during the time of his/her regularly scheduled run assignment, he/she shall be compensated for that run. This shall be for one and one-half (1.5) hours for all drivers and three (3) hours for Double Runs except those who are compensated on an "hourly" basis. Hourly drivers shall be compensated for the number of hours normally worked on their regularly scheduled assignment. After 1.5 hours for regular runs or supplemental runs shall be awarded to drivers according to 3 hours for Double Runs have elapsed (or the following procedures:

9.7.2 Assignment of extra trips shall be made on the basis of a “Trip Board.” The most senior driver who signs up for the extra trip shall be compensated at the extra trip rate.
5. Extra trips that are postponed will be assigned to the originally appointed driver, as long as the trip is within the extra trip's originally scheduled week. Postponed trips beyond the extra trip's originally scheduled week will be re-posted. Drivers unable to take the trip will not be penalized.
6. If an extra trip is canceled and the driver who selected the trip is unable to perform his/her regularly scheduled run due to the timing of the cancellation, that driver shall be paid as if he/she drove the regularly scheduled run. The Employer has the right to assign the driver to other driving or related responsibilities for the time which is compensated. These responsibilities shall include riding on another regular run for the purpose of assisting with student discipline, safety and supervision. The driver has the option to decline these responsibilities, but will forfeit any compensation under this Section if this occurs.
7. If an extra trip is canceled after being awarded and it cannot be reassigned to the originally appointed driver, said driver shall receive a payment equal to two hours at the extra trip rate, or the actual amount of the time of the trip, whichever is less. No This penalty payment shall not apply to trips that are canceled due to inclement weather or circumstances beyond the District's control and shall be awarded only if the trip is canceled twenty-four (24) hours or less before the scheduled departure time. Additionally, once a driver may give up any extra trip or supplemental run or regular run previously has been awarded in order to take an extra a trip, if Section 9.7.1 above would be violated. 3. New drivers when assigned a regular run will be entered on the trip roster if they desire and qualify, and they will be assessed the number of trip hours equal to the driver who has the most hours at that time.
4. At the beginning of the school year the trips will be assigned to those drivers on a seniority basis. After the first round of trips the trips will be assigned to the drivers with the least amount of "extra hours" accumulated to date.
a. These extra hours are to be dated recorded on the appropriate form and brought up to date and posted weekly in the bus garage.
b. Two (2) drivers in the unit will become responsible for assigning drivers for extra trips.
c. These two (2) individuals will be responsible for assigning all extra trip drivers except those which arise due to an emergency. Drivers absent for personal illness on the last working day before a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday trip shall not be eligible to drive such trip and will lose his/her turn on the list until the process begins anew. Drivers absent for other reasons will be able to drive such trips provided they contact the Transportation Office by 3:30 p.m. on the last working day later than one (1) week prior to the scheduled trip to verify their availability and confirm the start time of the trip.

Extra Trips. All trips other than regular runs daily shifts shall be designated extra trips.
6.6.1 No regular AM run may be given up to take an extra trip. Extra trips will be assigned by seniority to the regular driver that can take the trip without placing them in overtime pay status. If no regular drivers are available because they are already working or supplemental runs shall are ineligible under this section, relief drivers may be assigned extra trips.
1. The extra trip must increase the driver’s time by at least 1 hour.
2. The extra trip will not put the driver into overtime status for the week (> 40 hrs/week), with the exception that if the trip would put a relief driver into overtime status the trip will then be awarded to drivers according the driver who will incur the fewest number of hours of overtime.
3. Seniority will be the primary consideration in assigning extra trips.

6. In the event of a substitute shortage, the Supervisor will have the discretion to reassign the driver back to his/her regularly scheduled work or attach the extra trip to a regular work schedule. A substitute who declines regular work that is offered in order to allow a regular driver to take an extra trip shall go to the bottom of the substitute roster for purposes of that extra trip.
7. Trips may be turned back for emergencies or illness reasons only. Extra trips are deemed extra time and are not eligible for paid sick leave. In the case of illness, employees may use accrued sick leave for the amount of their regular work schedule.
8. If an extra trip is changed by one-half hour or more after the extra trip has been awarded, that trip shall be re-posted for bid and assigned by seniority. If such change occurs less than two (2) hours before the start time for the trip, the District will make a good faith effort to determine the most senior regular driver available, eligible, and willing to take the trip. Such efforts may include, but are not necessarily limited to, “all-calls” or telephone calls to employees. If a new trip arises with one (1) or fewer hours’ notice, the trip may be re-assigned at the discretion of the supervisor; provided, that if time permits the supervisor will first look to the next most senior employee available to take the trip. If a trip has been turned back, the supervisor will first look to the employees who signed up for the trip in applying the above procedures:.

13. A list of assigned extra trips for the week, including charters, will be posted on Monday or the first working day of the week.
6.6.2 Rejection of more than three (3) extra trips in any one (1) semester shall result in said driver losing the right to extra trip assignments for the remainder of the semester. Emergencies or medical/dental appointments shall not be assigned considered rejections, if advance notice is given to the Transportation Supervisor when possible.
6.6.3 Charter buses will not be used where regular or relief drivers, regardless of whether they would incur overtime, could take the runs at less cost to the District. In determining costs, the District shall use the Step 04 hourly wage rate plus 15% (for employee benefit costs) and for overtime hours, time and one-half of that wage rate plus 15% (employee benefits), plus the District’s established mileage cost for bus use, and the reasonable anticipated costs for driver meals and lodging. If incurring overtime costs would result in compliance less cost for the District than using a charter bus, the District shall assign the trip by seniority to the regular driver that can take the run with the following section least amount of this Agreementovertime; provided, however, that nothing in this section shall require the District to pay drivers if a charter is used because there are no driver shall be eligible to work more than forty (40) hours in any workweek, exclusive of hours worked on Saturday drivers or Sunday, when another eligible driver is available and would not be put into overtimeequipment available.

Extra Trips. All trips other (A) No less than regular runs or supplemental runs a 120 hour advance notice shall be awarded provided for extra trip assignments. When the 120 hour notice is not provided, but a need for a driver by the school district is still present, acceptance of this run is voluntary and refusals will not be charged against the driver who declines the run. The rotation order of the extra trip board is not affected by this type of emergency situation. The exception to drivers according this notice is unexpected athletic event trips which will require 24 hour notice.
(1) Once a trip has been assigned to the following procedures:eligible driver, it becomes that driver’s responsibility to find a replacement in the event he/she cannot drive the assigned run. If regular drivers are unable to fill this replacement need from the rotation trip board, substitute drivers may be called. If no replacement driver can be found, the assigned driver must assume the responsibility for that assigned trip. If an employee accepts a run off the rotation trip board, he/she then assumes the responsibility for that assigned trip.
9.7.1 All extra trips (B) Extra trip rotation shall be assigned in compliance by seniority, with the following section of this Agreement; provided, however, that no driver shall be eligible to work more than forty (40) hours in any workweek, exclusive of hours worked on Saturday or Sunday, when another eligible driver is available and would not be put into overtime.
9.7.2 Assignment of extra trips shall be made on the basis of a “Trip Board.” The most senior driver who signs up (of the week) having first choice of opportunity from the available extra trip(s) for the week. The remaining driver(s) will be at the top of the rotation for the next available trip(s).
(C) Extra trips that are postponed will be re-assigned in accordance with the extra trip shall be awarded board. The driver will not forfeit his/her position on the trip. No driver may give up any extra trip or supplemental run or regular run previously awarded in order board rotation.
(D) All drivers when scheduled to work as a driver on extra trips after school hours are expected to take an extra tripa trip packet for emergency situations. The trip packet shall contain keys for access to the bus garage, if Section 9.7.1 above would instructions for handling emergency situations, and telephone numbers to be violatedused. If a field trip assignment is canceled and the bus driver(s) is/are not notified prior to reporting to the assigned pickup point, the driver(s) shall receive two (2) hours minimum pay. For purposes of rotation, this will not be considered a trip taken and the driver will be eligible for the next trip that will not conflict with the driver’s regularly scheduled route. When a field trip necessitates the driver remaining out of the district overnight, the driver shall be made compensated for all driving time at his/her regular rate of pay, waiting time at one-half (1/2) the regular rate of pay and will not be compensated for eight (8) hours of sleep time. If a bus driver drives for a school connected organization other than the Board of Education (athletics, music group, club, etc.), the individual in charge of the trip shall make provision for the expenses of the driver, i.e., lunch, parking fee, lodging, etc. The Transportation Supervisor may schedule a split trip providing the waiting time at the field trip location would warrant this arrangement. The bus driver who is at the top of the rotation list can sign up for both parts of the split or either the first or second halves of the trip. If the person at the top of the rotation list decides to sign up for only one part of a split route, the other part of the split will be available for driver viewing to be driven by the Transportation Officenext person on the rotation list who wishes to sign up for that trip. Split trips (all or any part of a split) have the same effect on the person's rotation standing as a regular field trip. Waiting time (other than overnight trips) will be paid at the driver's regular rate of pay.

Extra Trips. All A. Field trips other than regular runs or supplemental runs and extra trip drivers shall be awarded selected and assigned to a roster of interested drivers according and the name of those on the roster shall be placed in order of seniority with the driver with the greatest seniority being assigned the first such field trip or extra trip. Future trips will be assigned on a rotating basis and will not be reset at the beginning of the school year. Those interested in being placed on the Band, Extra Curricular and/or Athletic trip rosters should sign up between August 1st and September 15th at the location and venue designated by the Transportation Supervisor.

In the event extra trips cannot be filled from the voluntary list or the trip requires more drivers than on the voluntary list, the school's Transportation Director will go to a list composed of the remaining drivers, requesting the most senior driver(s) to take the needed additional bus(es). The forcing of the junior driver will rotate up the list until all drivers have been required at least once to take a trip.
C. There shall be a different gate system set up for late trips. The upper smaller gate could possibly be used, or a motor closure system provided for the large gate. All drivers shall have a key to the following procedures:gate system.
9.7.1 D. There shall be a separate restroom facility for the female drivers or an outside door.

I. Drivers assigned to the vocational run shall receive an extra supplemental payment of $15.00 per day.
J. Bargaining unit members must sign up for extra trips between August 1st and September 15th of each school year. Trips will be awarded under paragraph A. above. Extra Trips. All A. Field trips other than regular runs or supplemental runs and extra trip drivers shall be awarded selected and assigned to a roster of interested drivers according and the name of those on the roster shall be placed in order of seniority with the driver with the greatest seniority being assigned the first such field trip or extra trip. Future trips will be assigned on a rotating basis. Those interested in being placed on the Band, Extra Curricular and/or Athletic trip rosters should sign up at the location and at the time designated by the Transportation Supervisor.
B. In the event extra trips cannot be filled from the voluntary list or the trip requires more drivers than on the voluntary list, the school's Transportation Director will go to a list composed of the remaining drivers, requesting the most senior driver(s) to take the needed additional bus(es). If all drivers on the list refuse, then the Transportation Director will require the junior available driver to take the trip. The forcing of the junior driver will rotate up the list until all drivers have been required at least once to take a trip.
C. There shall be a different gate system set up for late trips. The upper smaller gate could possibly be used, or a motor closure system provided for the large gate. All drivers shall have a key to the following procedures:gate system.
9.7.1 D. There shall be a separate restroom facility for the female drivers or an outside door.
E. All extra trips shall be assigned posted in compliance with a reasonable advance time on the following section bulletin board in the drivers room. I. Drivers assigned to the vocational run shall receive an extra supplemental payment of $15.00 per day.
J. Bargaining unit members must sign up for extra trips by August 1st of each school year. Drivers absent for other reasons Eight (8) hours uninterrupted sleep time will be able to drive such trips provided they contact the Transportation Office by 3:30 p.m. on the last working day prior to the scheduled trip to verify their availability and confirm the start time of the tripgiven each driver with no duties as assigned as a driver during this eight (8) hours.

If a regular driver was assigned the trip and is reassigned back to his/her regularly scheduled work, they shall be paid for the lost hours between their regularly scheduled work and the hours of the trip. Cancellation hours (section 6.6.4 of the collective bargaining agreement) will not be applicable under these circumstances. A substitute who declines regular work that is offered in order to allow a regular driver to take an extra trip shall go to the bottom of the substitute roster for purposes of that extra trip.
7. Trips may be turned back for emergencies or illness reasons only. Extra trips are deemed extra time and are not eligible for paid sick leave. In the case of illness, employees may use accrued sick leave for the amount of their regular work schedule.
8. If an extra trip is changed by one-half hour or more after the extra trip has been awarded, that trip shall be re-posted for bid and assigned by seniority. If such change occurs less than two (2) hours before the start time for the trip, the District will make a good faith effort to determine the most senior regular driver available, eligible, and willing to take the trip. Such efforts may include, but are not necessarily limited to, “all-calls” or telephone calls to employees. If a new trip arises with one (1) or fewer hours’ notice, the trip may be re-assigned at the discretion of the supervisor; provided, that if time permits the supervisor will first look to the next most senior driver on employee available to take the sign-trip. If a trip has been turned back, the supervisor will first look to the employees who signed up sheetfor the trip in applying the above procedures.
9.7.4 Drivers 9. Field Trip procedures (section 6.6.2 of the collective bargaining agreement) regarding refusals will be followed if a driver turns the extra trip back in.
10. Any grievance regarding this section is waived if not brought to the attention of the District prior to the date of the trip, provided that the posting requirements of subsection 13, below, were followed by the District.
11. Wash bay and seat repair may be given up to take an extra trip by advance arrangement only if the District is able to acquire a replacement to do the work.
12. If a trip is originally awarded as a single trip but must be split to meet the needs of the district, and if the driver to whom the trip was originally awarded retains only the return portion of the trip, that driver shall not be eligible for required to clock out during any wait time between the end of the driver’s last run and the return portion of the extra trip.
13. A list of assigned extra trips during periods of absence due to illness. Drivers absent for personal illness the week, including charters, will be posted on Monday or the last first working day before a Saturday, Sunday, of the week.
6.6.2 Rejection of more than three (3) extra trips in any one (1) semester shall result in said driver losing the right to extra trip assignments for the remainder of the semester. Emergencies or holiday trip medical/dental appointments shall not be eligible considered rejections, if advance notice is given to drive such the Transportation Supervisor when possible.
6.6.3 Charter buses will not be used where regular or relief drivers, regardless of whether they would incur overtime, could take the runs at less cost to the District. In determining costs, the District shall use the Step 04 hourly wage rate plus 15% (for employee benefit costs) and for overtime hours, time and one-half of that wage rate plus 15% (employee benefits), plus the District’s established mileage cost for bus use, and the reasonable anticipated costs for driver meals and lodging. If incurring overtime costs would result in less cost for the District than using a charter bus, the

Extra Trips. All A. The transportation manager will post all extra trips other than regular runs or supplemental runs shall on the bulletin board, and drivers will indicate their availability by signing for the same.
B. Each Monday, the transportation manager will post a list of individual driver names indicating the number of hours of extra trips driven in the current marking period. The transportation manager will include only driving time on the trip board, not "downtime" for Saturday winter trips. Non-trip hours will be awarded to drivers according to posted as well as trip hours.
C. The first week of the following procedures:
9.7.1 All extra marking period, trips shall be assigned in compliance by seniority. In subsequent weeks, trips shall be assigned to the driver with the following section least number of this Agreement; providedhours accumulated during that marking period. If hours are equal, howeverseniority shall prevail. New drivers will be assigned the average hours of all drivers who have taken trips.
D. Notification of trip assignments will be at least two (2) driving days prior to the scheduled trip, except in unusual circumstances. If after a trip is posted and closed (with the usual two [2] days notice), and then changed to a drop off only, that no driver shall be eligible to work more paid the difference between their regular run, if affected, and the drop off time paid.
E. If an extra trip (sports included) is canceled, as soon as the Transportation Department is notified of the cancellation, the driver will be notified. If the driver is notified less than forty two (402) hours in any workweek, exclusive of hours worked on Saturday or Sunday, when another eligible driver is available and would not be put into overtime.

9.7.4 Drivers shall not be eligible after having signed for extra trips during periods of absence due to illness. Drivers absent for personal illness on the last working day before a Saturdayit, Sundaywithout sufficient reason, or holiday trip shall not be eligible to drive such trip and will lose hishe/her turn on the list until the process begins anew. Drivers absent for other reasons she will be able to drive such trips provided they contact the Transportation Office by 3:30 p.m. on the last working day prior to the scheduled trip to verify their availability and confirm the start time of listed as if he/she had actually driven the trip. The definition of sufficient reason would include a driver off on authorized sick leave.
