Extra Trips. The Board agrees to hire regular employed drivers for extra trips on a rotating basis with the rotation determined by seniority, providing the regular driver is available for the trip. (The Transportation Supervisor or Superintendent of Schools will determine this). When a substitute is unavailable, the regular driver will take his/her regular run; and the coach, director or teacher will drive the bus for his/her activity if he/she is a qualified driver. If no one volunteers for the trip a driver may be assigned. 1. On days that a driver takes an extra trip and it occurs during their regular run, they will be compensated at their regular run rate and will have 1.5 hours subtracted from the extra run total time. 2. Extra Trips. The Board agrees (a) Extra trips are herein defined as those runs which are not normally scheduled daily.
(b) To be eligible to hire drive an extra trip, an employee must have completed a regional transportation safety institute school, plus have full certification.
(c) In the event that an extra trip is canceled due to inclement weather, the minimum payment rate will not apply, but the affected driver will be offered the next available extra trip assignment.
(d) Regular drivers scheduled for an extra trip which falls during their regular employed drivers working day shall be paid at the extra trip rate, except during the hours the driver would be driving their regular route, for which regular route pay shall prevail.
(e) All extra trips shall be assigned on an equal hour basis. Such hourly records are to be posted at the transportation center for all drivers. Any driver low on extra trip hours shall have first option on the next extra trip. If that driver declines, then that driver is always charged with the number of hours they could have made, except during holiday and vacation periods, or when same day notice is given by the employee of an extra trip less than twenty-four (24) hours prior to the departure time of the trip.
(f) Bus drivers will be reimbursed by the district for lunch and/or dinner when on a rotating basis trip that requires an extended period of time. The extended period of time is defined as four (4) consecutive hours or more that fall into the time frame of a 11:00
a. m. to 1:00 p.m. for a lunch and/or after 6:30 p.m. for dinner. It is agreed that the district Director of Transportation/Maintenance/Custodial and/or designee will authorize this reimbursement and submit to the Business Office. The reimbursement amount is $8.00 per meal.
(g) It is agreed that the bus drivers who are transporting students to co- curricular events will be admitted to the game/event free of charge.
(h) Out-of-town field trips shall have at least one (1) adult chaperone on the bus, with the rotation determined by senioritydriver to be responsible for informing all of the passengers of the required safety rules.
(i) Overnight trips shall be paid at the extra trip rate, providing except during the hours when the driver would be driving their regular route, for which regular route pay shall prevail. Calculation of hours shall be from the time the bus leaves until the final stop that day.
(j) In the event that no driver wishes to drive a scheduled extra trip, the transportation supervisor may assign a driver to the extra trip.
(k) An employee who drives an extra trip shall be paid a minimum of one (1) hour pay or actual time for run.
(l) Extra trip pay will start twenty (20) minutes before an extra trip starts, and will be paid until the bus post trip is available for the trip. finished.

3. Trips All extra trips that require an overnight stay are known, prior to the drivers’ annual pre-school year meeting, will be subject posted at that meeting. Other extra trips will be posted in the order the permits are received by the transportation supervisor and will be posted within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt. All extra trips must be approved by the Superintendent/designee. In addition, all field trips will be coordinated by the individual building principals; all athletic trips by the athletic director; and all music trips by the individual music teachers. All extra trips should be submitted to the following:
a. Driving time will transportation supervisor at least five (5) work days in advance. Athletic trips should be paid at submitted for the above referenced rate of $15.00 per hourentire season; however, it is understood that tournaments, invitationals, etc. Non-driving time will may need to be paid at minimum wage. That trip if declined, will be offered to the next driver in the rotation. If a trip is canceled cancelled after a driver accepts it, that driver will be offered the next available trip.
5. If a driver is notified before leaving home that a trip is canceled, he/she will be given no remuneration. If a driver reports to workthe garage and then is informed the trip is canceled, the driver will be paid the for two (2) hour hours at his/her regular hourly pay rate.

Extra Trips.
