FMLA/CFRA Qualifying Reasons. Leaves taken for the following reasons are “FMLA/CFRA qualifying:” 11.4.1.6.1 The birth of a child of the unit member, and to care for the newborn child; 11.4.1.6.2 The placement of a child with the unit member for adoption or xxxxxx care; 11.4.1.6.3 Providing for the care of the unit member's parent, child, spouse or domestic partner who has a serious health condition; 11.4.1.6.4 Because of a serious health condition that makes the unit member unable to perform the essential functions of his/her position. Unlike the FMLA, CFRA does not include pregnancy or related medical conditions within the definition of serious health condition (refer to Article 11.4.2).
