Common use of Foreign Transactions Clause in Contracts

Foreign Transactions. Transactions initiated in foreign countries and/ or foreign currencies will be charged to your Account in U.S. Dollars. The conversion rate to dollars will be (a) a rate selected by Visa from the range of rates available in wholesale currency markets for the applicable central processing date, which rate may vary from the rate Visa itself receives, or (b) the government-mandated rate in effect for the applicable central processing date, in each of the above instances, plus or minus any adjustment determined by Credit Union. The exchange rate used on the processing date may differ from the rate that would have been used on the purchase date or cardholder statement posting date. A fee (finance charge), calculated in U.S. dollars, will be imposed on all foreign transactions, including purchases, cash advances and credits to your Account. A foreign transaction is any transaction that (a) you complete or a merchant completes on your card outside the United States regardless of where you are located at the time of the transaction (which may include internet transactions) or (b) is originated in a foreign currency. The Foreign Transaction Fee is set forth on the Disclosure accompanying this Agreement.
