Although DfE had envisaged an online catalogue and that transactions would be carried out using web-based or other online technologies, Pro5’s evidence is that schools generally oppose this approach. Only between 15% and 20% of school orders are actually placed this way. b. It is proposed that DfE will cover this cost as a separate item from the commission levied on products and services supplied through the catalogue. f. At this moment, until DfE has established its core criteria and the market has responded via the tender exercise, we do not of course have a clear idea of the numbers of products and services likely to be included, and we may (in consultation and agreement with the DfE) therefore have to review the size (and pricing) of the catalogue later.
