- FULL-TIME POSITION(S) WITH THE UNION. ‌ Upon application by the Union, in writing, the Hospital shall grant leave of absence, without pay, to an employee elected or appointed to full-time Union office. It is understood that no more than two (2) employees in the bargaining unit may be on such leave at the same time. Such leave shall be for a period of one (1) calendar year from the date of appointment unless extended for a further specific period by agreement of the parties. It is understood that no more than one (1) employee will be from the same unit of the Hospital, subject to operational requirements. Seniority and service shall accrue at seven and one-half (7.5) hours per day to a maximum of thirty-seven and one-half (37.5) hours per week during such leave. The employee shall notify the Hospital of his intention to return to work at least four (4) weeks prior to the date of such return. The employee shall be returned to his former duties on the same shift in the same department and at the appropriate rate of pay, subject to any changes which would have occurred had the employee not been on leave. 2.01 the Hospital may fill the vacancy resulting from such leave on a temporary basis.
