Geotechnical Borings and Investigations. The Engineer shall determine the location of proposed soil borings for bridge design, embankment settlement analysis, retaining walls, slope stability and along storm drain alignment in accordance with the latest edition of the State’s Geotechnical Manual. The State will review and provide comments for a boring layout submitted by the Engineer showing the general location and depths of the proposed borings. Once the Engineer receives the State’s review comments they shall perform soil borings (field work), soil testing and prepare the boring logs in accordance with the latest edition of the State’s Geotechnical Manual and State District’s procedures and design guidelines.
