Handicap. For the purposes of this part, the term ‘‘handicap’’ is synony- mous with the term ‘‘disability.’’ High-risk pregnancy. A pregnancy is high-risk when the presence of a cur- rently active or previously treated medical, anatomical, physiological ill- ness or condition may create or in- crease the likelihood of a detrimental effect on the mother, fetus, or newborn and presents a reasonable possibility of the development of complications dur- ing labor or delivery.
