Inclement Weather Conditions. 3.8.1 If severe weather conditions make it necessary for the district to declare school(s) closed, all but critical employees (as determined by the district) necessary to maintain the buildings and equipment will not be required to report to duty. Critical employees will, except in an emergency, be designated by their supervisors in September of each year. Regular full-time and part-time employees working only the school year will make up the day(s) when school is rescheduled. Should the District determine that a school and/or work location or the district has been closed District as a whole will operate on a late start or early dismissal schedule due to severe inclement weather, conditions caused by severe inclement weather, a natural disaster, or other emergency circumstances, the following shall apply:
1. This leave will not be deducted from sick leave/emergency leave accumulation.
b. Any additional days missed may be deducted from appropriate accrued leave. If all available leave has been exhausted, leave without pay may be used.
c. They may Employees are expected to report to work at their regularly scheduled time, or as soon as they safely can, and remain for no loss their regularly scheduled day or as long as safely possible, given the conditions. Employees who report to work late or must leave prior to their regular end of pay or leave daysshift will be allowed one (1) hour of paid time for safe travel, not to exceed their regularly scheduled hours.
2. Critical employees Employees who are not able to arrive within the first hour or must leave more than one hour at their regularly scheduled time, or who must leave prior to their regular end of shift, may use emergency leave, or be permitted to make up all time lost via arrangement with their supervisor Administrator.
3. Regular school-year employees are not required to report to work on when their buildings are closed, however will substitute another day of service when schools make up any missed day(s); Salary shall not be deducted for such time losses.
4. If the District applies for and receives a waiver of missed school closure day and who do not days for students, bargaining unit members shall have the option following options to make up the missed time with no loss of pay:
a. Remote work provided by Administrator and/or lead teacher,
b. Trade time worked out with the Administrator,
c. Sick or Personal Leave,
d. Additional non-student days added to the end of the severe weather leave day and non-critical employees reporting for duty on a school closure day will receive up to three (3) additional compensatory vacation days. Information regarding school closures is on the district web site and is sent to employees via email, phone and text, upon requeststudent calendar with District provided training or Administrator provided work.
