Common use of International Union Agent Clause in Contracts

International Union Agent. On receipt of a written request from the International Union, an employee who is selected or appointed by the International Union to engage in special International Union activities on a full-time basis (i.e., thirty (30) calendar days or more) shall be granted a leave of absence in writing, without pay for a period not to exceed one (1) year, (subject to extension on written application). Such employee shall accumulate seniority during such absence if he returns to work at the expiration of the leave of absence. Any such request from the International Union shall be submitted to the Company at least fifteen (15) calendar days prior to the date the leave is to start.
