Interpretation of Act. The District intends to remain faithful to the requirements of the Act. Questions regarding the interpretation, administration, and application of the Act to eligible employees shall be resolved by reliance on the FMLA and its interpretive regulations. Where relevant, the District will also consider its policies, rules, practices, and negotiated agreements. EXTENDED LEAVE OF ABSENCE 1996-97 1999-00 Career teachers with at least three (3) years of experience with the district may apply for an extended leave of absence without pay for the remainder of the current year and the following year. Such request must be approved by the Board of Education. Non-paid leaves of absence are as follows:

JURY DUTY Employees who serve on municipal, district or grand jury shall serve without loss of pay or accumulated leave. Any compensation received for jury duty, while receiving salary from the District, will be assigned to the School District. The employee will submit the money to the business office. A record of days served will be reported to the business office. The amount paid to the District by the employee for serving on jury duty shall not exceed their daily rate of pay.
