Common use of INTRODUCTION TO INCOME PROTECTION PLAN Clause in Contracts

INTRODUCTION TO INCOME PROTECTION PLAN. The following Plan is designed to provide the Employee with an income if they cannot perform their normal duties due to illness/non-occupational injury during both short and long term disabilities. The Plan replaces the Cumulative Sick Leave Allowances Program and is not intended to duplicate or replace Worker’s Compensation Benefits. Provision is included under the Short Term Income Protection Plan to “top up” awards from the Worker’s Compensation Board from an Employee’s cumulative sick leave plan credits to 100% of earnings. An Employee will be paid while they are disabled until the earlier of: (a) the Employee returns to work; or (b) the Employee retires, either at the normal retirement age or opts to retire early, or (c) the Employee exhausts their entitlements under either of the plans; or (d) the Employee dies.
