Investigation of Hazardous Line-of-Duty Illness or Disability Pay. ‌ Upon such determination by the Board of Inquiry, the employee shall be entitled to receive the employee's full salary for the duration of such disability; or until the employee is examined by a qualified physician and given a certificate that such disability is ended; or upon the expiration of one hundred eighty (180) days, whichever is the lesser period. Upon certification of a qualified physician, a recommendation of the Board of Inquiry, and approval of the District Administrator, the period of hazardous line-of-duty disability may be extended. The Board of Inquiry, in determining the classification of hazardous line-of-duty illness or disability, shall take into consideration the unusual, unexpected, hazardous and peculiar circumstances of the employee seeking such classification and may make such investigations and hold such hearings as it may consider necessary for fair determination of the matter. The affected employee may request union representation at such hearings. The determination of the employee's classification shall be at the sole discretion of the Board of Inquiry, and not an established right of any employee. The determination of the Board of Inquiry shall be final and binding on all parties.
