Leave for Storm Or Hazardous Conditions. It is the responsibility of the Nurse to make every reasonable effort to arrive at their work location as scheduled, however, during storm conditions, when such arrival is impossible, or delayed, all absent time will be deemed to be leave, and the Nurse has the option to:
(a) take the absent time as unpaid; or
(b) deduct the absent time from accumulated overtime, holiday time or vacation; or
(c) when the Nurse has no entitlement to accumulated paid leave, the Nurse may, with prior approval of the Employer, make up the absent time as the scheduling allows.

(i) take the absent time as unpaid; or
(ii) deduct the absent time from accumulated overtime, holiday time or vacation; or
(iii) when the Nurse has no entitlement to accumulated paid leave, the Nurse may, with prior approval of the Employer, make up the absent time as the scheduling allows.
(b) Nurses assigned to work outside of the facility, shall not be required to perform assignments during hazardous weather conditions and shall report to the facility if possible for reassignment.
(c) Notwithstanding Article 9.03(a) lateness beyond the beginning of a Nurse’s regular shift starting time shall not be subject to the provisions of Article 9.03 (a)(i), (ii), or (iii), where the lateness is justified by the Nurse being able to establish to the satisfaction of the immediate management supervisor that every reasonable effort has been made by the Nurse to arrive at her work station at the scheduled time.
(d) In determining reasonable effort pursuant to Article 9.03 (c) the Employer shall have regard to the personal circumstances of the Nurse (e.g. place of residence, family responsibilities, transportation problems, car pools).

(b) Employees assigned to provide services which require travel shall not be required to perform such assignments during hazardous travelling conditions and shall report to his/her facility for reassignment.

An employee shall be paid for scheduled hours lost when storm conditions make such arrival impossible, to a maximum of twenty-four (24) hours per year. Where an employee has utilized the aforementioned twenty-four (24) hours, all additional absent time due to storm conditions will be deemed to be leave, and the Employee has the option to take the absent time as unpaid; or deduct the absent time from accumulated overtime, holiday time or vacation.

(c) when the employee has no entitlement to accumulated paid leave, the employee may, with prior approval of the Employer, make up the absent time as the scheduling allows.
Leave for Storm Or Hazardous Conditions. (a) An employee shall be paid for scheduled hours lost when storm conditions prevent the employee from performing scheduled work, to a maximum of twenty four (24) hours per fiscal year.
(b) No discrimination is to be practiced in the administration of the Article resultant from individual or personal situations, i.e. place of residence, family responsibilities, transportation problems, car pools, etc.
(c) Where notification to a client of cancellation or change in scheduling of service is necessary because of storm conditions as referred to in Article
Leave for Storm Or Hazardous Conditions. When an employee is prevented from providing client service due to hazardous road conditions, the employee shall not suffer a loss of regular earnings where their assignment(s) can be rescheduled with their client(s) within two (2) weeks. In recognition of employees occasionally being unable to provide client service due to inclement weather, each employee shall receive eight (8) hours additional pay (regular rate), to be included in the last pay period prior to Christmas. The eight (8) hours additional pay shall be prorated over the previous twelve (12) months.
Leave for Storm Or Hazardous Conditions. Where storm conditions prevent employees from attending at the workplace, they may be directed by the Employer, where feasible, to work from their homes. Where this is not feasible, time lost by an employee as a result of absence due to storm conditions or because of the condition of public streets and highways or because an employee finds it necessary to seek permission to leave prior to the end of the regular shift must be:
(i) made up by the employee at a time agreed upon by the Employer and the employee; or
(ii) charged to the employee’s accumulated vacation time, accumulated overtime or accumulated holiday time: or
(iii) otherwise deemed to be leave without pay. Reasonable lateness to a maximum of two (2) hours beyond the beginning of an employee’s regular shift starting time due to storm conditions or because of the condition of public streets and highways shall not be considered time lost where a lateness is justified by the employee being able to establish to the supervisor that every reasonable effort has been made by the employee to arrive at her work station at the scheduled time.
