Criminal investigations and arrests by SROs will be conducted in accordance with all applicable legal requirements, including all applicable laws, regulations, and policies governing the use of force, interrogations, searches, and arrests. The SRO shall promptly notify appropriate school authorities whenever a SRO asks a student questions of an investigative nature or takes any direct law enforcement action against a student; however, notification may be withheld until deemed appropriate by the SRO if such notification would endanger a student or any other person or compromise an ongoing criminal investigation.
