LEAVE AT THE REQUEST OF THE DEPARTMENT. 188. An employee may be assigned to attend an educational course or training that is relevant to the employee’s job responsibilities, inside or outside City facilities during his/her normal working hours. S/he shall be paid at his/her regular rate while so assigned. Effective July 1, 2003 through the duration of this Agreement, employees shall use four hours (on a pro-rata basis for part-time employees) of educational leave, vacation, compensatory time or unpaid leave each fiscal year for the purpose of attending such assigned educational courses or trainings. Courses which the employee is required to attend by the Department shall be free of charge.
