Leave for Upgrading and Training. Teachers who would otherwise be laid off shall, upon request, be granted leave of absence of up to 2 (two) years for educational upgrading to become qualified to teach in areas for which Teachers may be required by the Board. Upon expiry of the leave the Teacher shall be given any position for which the Teacher is qualified which is held by a Teacher with less seniority; otherwise, the Teacher shall be laid off.
