The long approach memorandum will document the reason for the roadway approaches needing to be longer than the standard 200-foot funding limit and confirming that the project is being designed to the nearest attainable touchdown while still meeting AASHTO standards. To support the Long Approach Memorandum, Xxxx Xxxxxx will evaluate the roadway geometrics at the Xxxxxxx Valley Road/Xxxxx Valley Road Intersection. Two alternatives will need to be considered - modifying the intersection to bring it to current AASHTO standards and leaving the intersection geometrics as is while accommodating the shift in roadway alignment needed for the bridge replacement.
