Long Term Acting Assignments (Suppression. Suppression employees assigned by the Chief of the Department or designee to perform the full range of duties and responsibilities of a higher rank shall receive the compensation of the higher rank for the duration of the assignment (including paid leave) if all of the following conditions are met: (1) The position to which the employee is assigned must be an authorized budgeted position, and (2) The employee assigned is projected to perform the duties of the higher rank for longer than 30 calendar days. If these conditions are met, the Chief or his/her designee shall authorize in writing the acting assignment and shall forward the Acting Assignment Pay Forms to the appropriate City and County Department for approval and processing. If disabled while working at a higher classification as described above, the employee shall receive disability benefits at the level attached to the rank at which the employee was assigned at the time of such disability. Acting Assignment Pay shall be retroactive to the first day of the assignment. Long Term Acting Assignments shall be made with due regard for seniority.
