Shift Assignments. When an opening occurs in a shift assignment in an appropriate work group at a location, preference shall be given to employees within the classification who possess the training, ability and any required special qualifications to perform the work required, on the basis of seniority. In the event that no employee desires a shift assignment, employees shall be selected in order of inverse seniority. This provision shall not apply to necessary training assignments. This provision shall not in itself alter the practice of rotating shifts where such practice presently exists. No employee who has a regular shift assignment on the effective date of the Agreement shall be involuntarily displaced from such shift assignment as a result of this Article.
Shift Assignments. All monitors district-wide shall have the opportunity to request assignment to any shift. The assignment of monitors to shifts that begin prior to 7 a.m. or after 11:30 a.m. shall be voluntary and shall be honored on the basis of seniority as defined in Section 13.03 of the Negotiated Agreement. Should a more senior monitor decline the opportunity to work one of these shifts, then the next most senior monitor shall be offered this shift, and so on through the seniority list. Should no monitor express an interest in working a shift with a start time beginning prior to 7 a.m. or after 11:30 a.m. then reverse seniority shall apply and the monitor with the least seniority shall be involuntarily assigned to the 11:30 or later start time and then the earlier than 7:00 a.m. start time. In instances of reassignment of monitors resulting in a change in start time of one (1) or more hours during the school year, the reassignment shall be voluntary and honored on the basis of seniority. Should a more senior member decline the opportunity the monitor with least seniority will be involuntary assigned to that shift. In instances of reassignment during the school year due to vacancies, the monitors assigned involuntarily shall have seven days from notification of their assignment in order to manage their personal affairs to accommodate the new work schedule. Monitors assigned to shifts that begin prior to 7 a.m. or after 11:30 a.m. shall, during the last three weeks of the school year, be issued the same assignment for the subsequent school year unless the monitor(s) submits a written request to be reassigned to one of the other shifts listed in Section 18.02, above. Such requests shall be honored unless the provisions regarding reverse seniority as described above are required.
Shift Assignments. New or vacated shifts will be offered to staff on seniority in class prior to filling of any position. Employees may not be eligible if they have received discipline within the previous six (6) months, or have transferred within the previous nine (9) months. For night shift, at least half of the positions need to be filled by staff who have completed trial service. If there are not enough staff out of trial service to fill half the positions at night, the least senior staff with one (1) or more years of Xxxxxxxxx Cottage experience, from day or swing shifts, will trade shifts with the night staff until the employee has completed the trial service period.
Shift Assignments. 1. Shift assignments shall be made in accordance with the needs of the Employer.
2. Seniority shall be considered in assigning employees to desired shift assignments. For purposes of this Article, seniority means continuous length of service in the job class.
3. Neither permanent assignments nor temporary reassignments shall be used as a means of disciplining bargaining unit members. The parties acknowledge that changes in assignment may be appropriate as part of a corrective or investigatory action.
Shift Assignments. Within a given classification, shift assignments shall first be offered to employees by classification seniority on a voluntary basis. In the event shift assignments are not filled voluntarily, such assignments will be made on the basis of inverse classification seniority. Within a Library department or unit, shift assignments shall be made on a rotational basis so that the least desirable shifts can be shared as equally as possible.
Shift Assignments. A. Shift assignments shall be made in accordance with the needs of the Employer.
B. Neither permanent assignments nor temporary assignments shall be used as a means of disciplining employees. The parties acknowledge that the changes in assignment may be appropriate as part of a corrective or investigatory action.
C. Except in emergencies or situations in which the employee agrees, shift assignment will not be changed without at least five (5) days notice; except that nothing in this Article precludes temporary reassignment of an employee because of illness, vacation, emergency, training, orientation, or similar causes.
D. When the Employer changes the shift assignment of an employee, the Employer, whenever feasible, will solicit volunteers from among the group of potentially affected employees and select the senior employee from among the qualified volunteers in the job class. If there are no qualified volunteers, the Employer shall select the least senior qualified employee. For purposes of this section, seniority is construed as Bargaining Unit seniority.
Shift Assignments. There will be three (3) categories of shifts: AM, PM and Night. If, due to an emergency or operational circumstances, it becomes necessary to change a unit member’s scheduled days of work or shift assignment temporarily, and if no regular bargaining unit member volunteers for the shift change, the Hospital will use a shift rotation procedure that would be equitably applied to all qualified staff beginning with the least senior qualified Employee. However, if the assignment would result in overtime or other premium pay, the Hospital may move to the next qualified Employee in the rotation and go back to the skipped person when it does not cause overtime or premium pay. Absent circumstances where there are not qualified Employees, Employees in the top half of the seniority list will be excluded from this rotation. If, due to emergency or operational circumstances, it becomes necessary to change a unit member’s scheduled days of work or shift assignment permanently, and if no regular bargaining unit member volunteers for the shift change, the least senior regular unit member qualified to perform the available work will be assigned. Extra shifts and hours will be offered to full-time and part-time Employees in accordance with the below procedure prior to per diem Employees so long as it does not result in the Hospital incurring overtime or other premium pay. For up to one (1) week after the draft schedule is posted, Employees may sign up for any additional shifts/hours, and if doing so, will be awarded those additional shifts/hours based on rotational seniority starting with the most senior. To incentivize Employees to sign up for additional shifts/hours, any Employee who signs up and works additional shifts/hours will move to the bottom of the rotational list used to assign mandatory shifts/hours. In contrast, any Employee who calls out on an assigned mandatory shift/hours will move to the top of the rotational list (in addition to any other applicable attendance violation). In the event additional shifts/hours are available for a continuous six (6) month period due to either
(1) an Employee out on a leave of absence, or (2) a vacancy, Article 26, Posting and Filling of Vacancies applies to shift/hours assignments after six (6) continuous months instead of this Article.

Shift Assignments. Section 1. Employees shall have the right to bid for either day or night shifts in accordance with their seniority. When employees do not indicate their preference, the Employer shall assign employes with the least seniority to the night shift.
Shift Assignments. Employees who desire to be assigned to a different shift may submit a request to their immediate supervisor. Requests will be considered according to shift availability and operational needs.
