Long Term Assignment. When it becomes necessary for the EMPLOYER to utilize an EMPLOYEE above his/her regularly assigned labor grade for a period of more than thirty (30) calendar days, the selected EMPLOYEE shall:
(a) If available, be the highest positioned EMPLOYEE on the applicable promotional roster. Promotional rosters shall be used wherever practicable, even though they are beyond their expiration dates, in making selections for out of classification assignments.
(b) If there is no EMPLOYEE available from the applicable roster, or if no roster exists, then selection shall be made by department seniority within the appropriate job classification.
(c) After subsection (a) and (b) have been exhausted, the selection shall be made at the sole discretion of the Fire Chief or his/her designee.
Long Term Assignment a. A substitute serves in a Long-Term Assignment if he/she serves ten (10) or more days of consecutive service in the same assignment.
b. A substitute in a Long-Term Assignment may be a Level 1 or Level 2 substitute.
c. A substitute in a Long-Term Assignment shall be paid at the Long-Term Assignment pay rate stated on Miscellaneous Certificated Compensation (Appendix B-3).
d. Once a substitute serves ten (10) days, he/she will receive retroactive pay for the previous nine (9) days. The Long-Term Assignment pay rate will start on the first day of the assignment if the duration is known at the onset.
e. The District reserves the right to recoup overcompensation when a substitute in a Long-Term Assignment does not fulfill the assignment.

1. Be the highest positioned, available EMPLOYEE on the applicable Promotional Roster.
2. Have successfully completed the department approved mentoring program.
Long Term Assignment. For contract assignments to the Fluor B&W Portsmouth LLC project scheduled to be greater than 180 calendar days. The following provisions apply:
Long Term Assignment. Substitutes who have completed a long-term assignment of twenty (20) consecutive workdays or more for the same absent employee shall be paid in accordance with the Employees’ Salary Schedule (Appendix B) retroactive to the first day of assignment.
11.2.3.1 In the event that the absent employee returns to work on a part-time or intermittent basis and the substitute continues without interruption on the part-time or intermittent basis, the substitute will continue to accrue workdays of service credit toward the long-term assignment.
11.2.3.2 If there is a snow make-up or other emergency make-up day that breaks the continuity of a long-term assignment, the substitute will not be penalized and service credit toward the long-term assignment will continue without interruption(s).
Long Term Assignment. On the sixth and each subsequent consecutive day on the same teaching assignment, the rate shall be 1/200 of the teacher’s cer- tification and experience, retroactive to the first day of the assignment.
Long Term Assignment. After twenty (20) consecutive days in the same assignment, the substitute shall be paid an additional $20 per day in recognition of the duties described in Section 57.4. After forty-five (45) consecutive days in the same assignment, the substitute shall be paid at the BA+0/0 per diem rate for each work day including any non-student work days included within the assignment.
Long Term Assignment. Long-Term assignment is considered greater than one month in duration and the Temporary Foreperson (Seasonal) has been assigned to perform the duties of a Foreperson and has a seasonal construction crew assigned to the employee.
Long Term Assignment. A driver may be assigned to divisions according to the terms agreed upon among the division, the employee, and the Fleet Services Division (FSD), with notification provided to the Union. Such drivers maintain their place on all premium lists and may be assigned work within their assigned division according to the qualifications and skills they possess. Overtime opportunities outside of their division and normal work week will be assigned according to the protocol posted in the Dispatch Office.
