Common use of Longevity-Merit Pay Clause in Contracts

Longevity-Merit Pay. Existing bargaining units with eligible employees who have elected this plan will receive a wage increase of 1.5% above Step 10 upon completing 15 years of service with the County, and a 3.0% increase (not cumulative with the 1.5% increase after 15 years) above Step 10 upon completing 20 years of service with the County; provided, however, that an employee is eligible for the above Step 10 premium only if they receive at least a 3.25 rating on the prior year’s performance evaluation. For purposes of this provision, years of service shall be based on the employee’s Adjusted Service Date as that term is defined in the King County Personnel Guidelines. The requirement that the employee earn at least a 3.25 rating on the performance evaluation shall be waived for any year in which the employee did not receive a performance evaluation prior to the start of the calendar year. There shall be no limit or quota on the number of employees eligible to receive this wage premium above Step 10.
