Lottery Placement. Faculty members who have served in a long-term substitute position for the year prior to being hired as a permanent faculty member, will receive seniority in the year that they served as a long-term substitute. These faculty will be placed on the seniority list at the end of the lottery from the year in which they served as a long-term substitute. If multiple long- term substitutes are hired as permanent faculty during the same year, a separate lottery will be held for these faculty to determine seniority within that year (California Education Code § 87481.)
