Common use of Maximum Overtime Clause in Contracts

Maximum Overtime. 1. Except in an emergency, an employee may not be compelled or allowed to work more than sixteen (16) hours plus any worked meal periods in a twenty-four (24) hour period. After working more than sixteen (16) consecutive hours of work in a twenty-four (24) hour period (not including any meal periods worked at the employee’s choice), employees will be allowed a rest period of at least ten (10) hours off. If the ten (10) hours off overlap the employee’s regular shift, up to four (4) hours of such an overlap will be administrative leave. 2. Subject to the provisions of this Agreement, there shall be no limit on the amount of consecutive days of voluntary overtime an employee may work.
