Medical Reserve Corps. The MRC is a national network of local units of volunteers committed to improving the health, safety, and resilience of their communities. MRC volunteers include medical and public health professionals, as well as others interested in strengthening the public health infrastructure and improving the emergency response capabilities of their local jurisdiction. The Medical Reserve Corps was established in 2002 and the Federal office coordinating the MRC is housed in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR). There are over 700 community-based MRC units located throughout the United States and its territories, and approximately 300,000 volunteers.
