MUTUAL EXCHANGE OF TOURS. A fire fighter may request approval to exchange a duty shift with another fire fighter of the same or acting rank. If the request is submitted to the Division Director or designee on the appropriate form signed by both fire fighters concerned at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance and if the exchange will not interfere with the efficient operation or increase the operating cost of the Division, it will be approved by the Division Director or designee unless there are extenuating circumstances which will be explained at the time the request is denied. The fire fighter who agrees to substitute will be responsible for reporting to work at the scheduled time. In the case of emergency, notification can be made by phone to the Division Director or designee and confirmation in writing will be made on the appropriate form subsequent to the substitution.
