- Notification of Intent to Bump. Upon receipt of written notification of layoff, an employee has forty-eight (48) hours or their next scheduled shift (whichever is greater) to notify the Human Resources Department and the Union in writing of his/her option to bump a less senior employee in lieu of layoff. Provided that the employee is qualified and able to perform the required duties of that classification with an orientation period of not more than twenty (20) work days, and that the employee has more seniority than the employee being replaced.
