Operations Division. Operations Division. Operations Division staff who are qualified to Lieutenant and Captain at 2009-JAN-19 are grandfathered as being qualified and are not required to complete any of the required NFPA 1021 Level I and II courses. Operations Division staff who are involved in the NFRODP officer certification process at 2009-JAN-19 shall be deemed to have successfully completed NFPA 1021 Level I. These employees will be required to complete NFPA 1021 Level II certification under this Article. All Operations Division staff employed by the Department at 2009-JAN-19 shall be deemed to have successfully completed the NFPA 1001, Level II and NFPA 1002. When an employee starts the program for certification under NFPA 1021 Level I or Level II pursuant to this Article and the qualification standards at the applicable level change before the employee completes that level, the qualification standard that was in effect at the time the employee started the certification process at that level will continue to apply, not the changed standard for that level. If a candidate is required to travel in order to take the Officers’ certification program courses, the City’s policy in effect at the time regarding the reimbursement of travel expenses will continue to apply. A xxxx of seventy-five percent (75%) will be required to pass the applicable NFPA 1021 courses (including written and oral assignments and examinations and required practical examinations). When a candidate fails to achieve the required NFPA 1021 certification to advance into either the Acting Lieutenant’s Pool or the Acting Captain’s Pool, the candidate will be permitted to rewrite the required examinations within ninety (90) calendar days of receiving previous examination results. Failure to pass the required examinations on this second (2nd) attempt will disqualify the candidate from NFPA 1021 certification at that time. The candidate may however apply to take the next NFPA 1021 certification course at the failed level that is offered by the Department. In the unlikely event of a failure to pass the required examinations a third (3rd) time, the Fire Chief will evaluate each case on its own merits for future consideration regarding examination eligibility. Qualifications Requirements:
Operations Division. The hours of duty shall be averaged at forty-two (42) hours per week based upon a seven (7) day week. A work week shall consist of two (2) consecutive ten (10) hour day shifts commencing at 08:00 hours, immediately followed by twenty- four (24) hours off duty, immediately followed by two (2) consecutive fourteen (14) hour night shifts commencing at 18:00 hours and then four (4) days off.
Operations Division. First Year through Fourth Year All current Operations Division staff, effective 2009-JAN-19 are considered qualified to NFPA 1002 and NFPA 1001 Level II. Level I One year service plus the successful completion of NFPA 1001 Level I. Level II Two years service plus the successful completion of NFPA 1001 Level II and NFPA 1002. Senior Fire Fighter At the completion of ten (10) years of service, a Fire Fighter Level II will be promoted to the position of Senior Fire Fighter.
Operations Division. The members of the VFRS shall work a forty-two (42) hour week on the average as approved by the Fire Chief. All Firefighters, except Fire Prevention Division personnel, Mechanical Division personnel, Training Division personnel and Firefighters appointed as mechanics under Article 10.06 shall work on a two-platoon system as defined by the FPPA.
Operations Division. The operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution facilities.
Operations Division. Hours of work shall consist of ten (10) hour day shifts and fourteen (14) hour night shifts and shall be in accordance with a schedule of rotating shifts based on a two platoon system as set forth in Schedule “A”. Employees shall not work in excess of a fortytwo (42) hour work week averaged over a four (4) week period. Shifts shall commence at 7:30 and 17:30 hours respectively. Notwithstanding the above, it will be the practice to relieve on a person per person basis of one hour before the start of the shift, or earlier with the approval of the Officer.

Operations Division. 1) For the Operations Division of the Department, the following training is required: - 1st year Preceptor program (written and practical exam prior to 11 months) - 2nd year Fire Apparatus Operator and Equipment module - 3rd year Building Construction & Aerial Apparatus Operator Upon successful completion of the above, the employee shall have achieved the training requirements of Fire Fighter First Class.
