Promotional Policy. (a) In making promotions, the skills, knowledge and ability of the employees concerned shall be the primary consideration, and where such qualifications are equal, length of service shall be the determining factor, however, all employees have the right of appeal through the Grievance Procedure.
(b) Where the Employer promotes any employee, and makes any changes affecting salary, the following shall apply:
(i) The minimum salary increase shall be one (1) full pay step.
(ii) An employee already experienced with the Employer in the reclassifi- cation shall receive the pay step according to their experience, subject to negotiations between this Union and the Employer.
(iii) The Anniversary date for the purpose of annual increments, shall be twelve (12) months from the date of employment, promotion, or date of reclassification with the exception of those positions who receive semi-annual increments.
Promotional Policy. Promotional Policy will be set forth in Administrative Policy 11-1 and will state that any and all modifications to said promotional policy will be reviewed by a committee of four (4) consisting of equal representation from the Union and the City. Either the City or the Union may initiate modification of the promotional policy with reasonable notice given to the Union President and/or the City Manager as the case may be. All recommendations will be forwarded to the City Manager and his/her determination will be final.
Promotional Policy. (a) That with regard to promotion it is agreed that, other things being equal, effect shall be given to seniority.
(b) The parties to this Agreement acknowledge and accept Section AB150 (Promotional Policy) of the Port Xxxxx Police Department Regulation and Procedure Manual and such amendments as are approved by the Board on an annual basis and agree to be bound by Section AB150 and amendments as referred to in this Section.
(c) The Employer agrees that before making annual amendments to the Promotional Plan the Union shall have an opportunity to consider such amendments and to make representation to the Board. The Employer further agrees that amendments to the Promotional Plan shall not occur except as stated above, and all such amendments approved by the Board shall occur prior to the commencement of the annual promotional competition.
Promotional Policy. (a) With regard to promotions, it is agreed that, other things being equal, effect shall be given to seniority. The parties agree that the procedure that shall be followed in determining promotions within the Bargaining Unit are those procedures set out in Delta Fire Department Promotional Procedures dated November 18, 1993 which is attached as Schedule "D".
(b) Employees fully qualified (pursuant to Schedule "D") for and confirmed in a rank bearing a multiple step salary range shall be paid at the top step of that salary range.
Promotional Policy. Definitions Assignment: A designation to a position. Compensation: Recompense, remuneration, time, status, money, or any combination of these. Position: A post of employment. Promotion: An elevation to a posted position carrying greater responsibility and/or additional compensation for which educational certification is required. Transfer: A relocation from one position to another within the Lincoln School System.

(c) The Employer agrees that before making annual amendments to the Promotional Plan the Union shall have an opportunity to consider such amendments and to make representation to the Board. The Employer further agrees that amendments to the Promotional Plan shall not occur except as stated above, and all such amendments approved by the Board shall occur prior to the commencement of the annual promotional competition.
Promotional Policy. 5-1.1 It is agreed by the parties that promotional positions at the level of department head are subject to the grievance and arbitration procedures contained in this agreement and that appointments to positions above the level of department head are not subject to the grievance and arbitration procedures.
5-1.2 The School Committee agrees that it will post in all school buildings a notice of all position vacancies and new positions which pay a salary differential.
Promotional Policy. Any promotion in the Fire Department as defined in Appendix A shall be based upon seniority, together with efficiency, as determined by the Examining Board. The Employer shall provide annually to the Union a current Fire Fighters’ seniority list showing the name of each employee, his date of commencement of employment and his seniority ranking.

The Employer shall provide annually to the Union a current Fire Fighters’ seniority list showing the name of each employee, his date of commencement of employment and his seniority ranking.
(b) Procedures and policies outlined herein are to govern promotions within the Saanich Fire Department above the rank of Probationer up to and including the rank of Assistant Chief and Battalion Chief, for both acting and permanent appointments.
(c) Examinations for eligibility for promotions shall include:
(i) written test;
(ii) an oral test and interview;
(iii) an appraisal of overall performance in the department;
(iv) a physical examination (see No. 9 Qualifying Standards). Oral test questions for Officer Pools shall be confined to those areas of knowledge deemed by the Fire Chief to be necessary to properly carry out the duties of the positions as defined in Appendix A. Material required for study by applicants in each Pool for oral examinations will be provided by the Staff Development Officer. Failure to avail oneself of training opportunities does not constitute cause for special consideration.
