Options in Lieu of Layoff. Regular and cyclic employees who have completed their probationary period and who are designated for layoff will be given the option to move to one of the following positions in lieu of layoff, if that position is available: (a) Full-time, regular positions in a class(es) in which the employee has held permanent status; or (b) Full-time, regular positions in a lower class(es) in the same series for which the employee is qualified. As an alternative to full-time, regular positions, employees may elect to have access to positions that are project, part-time or cyclic by making such a request in writing.
