Common use of Orientation of Newly Hired Nurses Clause in Contracts

Orientation of Newly Hired Nurses. During the orientation of newly 19 hired nurses, the Medical Center shall provide an Association representative with a 20 thirty-minute period to discuss the Association. This period will be paid time for the 21 newly hired nurses and the Association representative. The Association representative, 22 if a bargaining unit nurse, will be paid at the regular rate of pay for the assigned thirty- 23 minute period. The paid time will not count toward premium or overtime pay. The 24 Medical Center will cooperate in releasing an Association representative, if a bargaining 25 unit nurse, from duty to attend such meeting, and the Association will cooperate to 26 provide an alternate representative where such release would cause staffing problems 27 for the Medical Center. 28 2.4.1 A Medical Center representative may be present at such meeting, 29 but shall not participate in the discussion. Nurses may be asked, but not 30 required, to complete the written authorization form referenced in Section 1.2 31 during or after such meeting. 1 2.4.2 The Medical Center will distribute to newly employed nurse’s 2 membership informational material provided by the Association to the Medical 3 Center for such purpose. Such material may include the Association form 4 authorizing voluntary payroll deduction of monthly dues (if such form expressly 5 states that such deduction is voluntary) and a copy of this Agreement.
