Policy of the Employer. The Employer shall take all measures necessary to protect and safeguard employees. All employees agree to comply with the laws, regulations and guidelines issued by the various levels of government and the Employer.

of the Employment Insurance Act (i) For the purposes of parental leave, the provisions under (a) and (c) shall also apply.
Where the Employer requires the employee to take a physical examination, the doctor’s fee shall be paid by the Employer, and the examination shall be on Company time. Where subsequent examination proves an employee unfit to work in a food store, examinations shall be paid by the employee.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EMPLOYER 1. The Employer agrees to display the following notices supplied by DHS in a prominent place that is clearly visible to prospective employees and all employees who are to be verified through the system:
Life Insurance Benefits A. During the life of this Agreement, the basic life insurance benefit made available to Faculty members shall be calculated as 3 times base annual earnings, rounded to the next highest $1,000, but not more than $225,000. A separate additional benefit up to the amount of the life insurance will be paid for accidental death and dismemberment, or loss of sight. The amount of Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment/Loss of Sight benefits will be reduced to 65% at age 65, and further reduced (from the original insurance amount) as follows: to 50% at age 70, and 35% at age 75. Basic life insurance and AD&D benefits will be provided with no employee contributions.
– DISABILITY INCOME PROTECTION PLAN 14.01 Income protection is payable when a full-time employee is absent from work due to legitimate personal illness or injury which is not compensable under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act. It is understood that payment of income protection is for the sole and only purpose of protecting employees against the loss of income during time of such illness. Seniority and service will accrue and the Employer shall continue to pay its share of the premium for the benefit plans during the period of the income protection noted in this provision.
Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment The Board shall provide without cost to the employee’s life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance in the amount of $35,000.
Unpaid Leave - Affecting Seniority and Benefits Any employee granted unpaid leave of absence totalling up to twenty (20) working days in any year shall continue to accumulate seniority and all benefits and shall return to her/his former job and increment step. If an unpaid leave of absence or an accumulation of unpaid leaves of absence exceeds twenty (20) working days in any year, the employee shall not accumulate benefits from the twenty-first (21st) day of the unpaid leave to the last day of the unpaid leave but shall accumulate benefits and receive credit for previously earned benefits upon expiration of the unpaid leave.
DISABILITY INSURANCE PLAN Management shall expend for active employees of this unit who are members of LACERS the sum necessary to cover the cost of a basic disability insurance plan. Management shall also maintain a Supplemental Disability Insurance Plan, enrollment in which is at the discretion of each employee. The full cost of the Supplemental Disability Insurance Plan premiums shall be paid by the individual employees who enroll in the plan. The City's Joint Labor-Management Benefits Committee shall determine the benefits and provider of the plan
RIGHTS OF THE EMPLOYER The Employer reserves and retains, solely and exclusively, all management rights, powers, and authority, including the right of management to manage, control, and direct its work forces and operations except those as may be modified under this Agreement.
