Common use of Political Office Leave Clause in Contracts

Political Office Leave. An employee who is elected to the Municipal Government will be granted a leave of absence without pay or benefits to fulfill their term of office. A written request for such leave of absence must be presented to the Employer with a least three (3) weeks in advance of when the leave of absence is to commence. Employees who are granted a leave pursuant to this sub-article will have their seniority accrue during such leave of absence. An employee returning to work from such leave of absence will inform their Employer at least three (3) weeks in advance. In every case an employee running for such office must take an unpaid leave of absence during the election campaign.
