Previously Assigned Load. (PAL) is the measure of load that a faculty member must be offered, if available, when assigning non‐contract assignments. A faculty member’s PAL is the second highest ranked load value worked over the past eight (8) consecutive semesters. (For example, if a faculty member worked: 0.4; 0; 0; 0.2; 0; 0.6; .2; 0.6; load would be ranked as 0.6; 0.6; 0.4; 0.2; 0.2; 0; 0; 0; and PAL would be 0.
