Promotion from Instructor to Assistant Professor. 13.5.1 The formal notice of appointment from the Xxxx to a new Instructor shall specify a time, not to exceed one (1) year from the date of the initial appointment, by which the terminal degree must be completed. If the degree is completed during that time, the Xxxx shall have the authority to recommend to the President a change in title from Instructor to Assistant Professor. If the degree is not completed during the specified time, the Xxxx shall have the authority, subject to agreement by the appropriate area faculty and program director, to provide an additional one-year appointment as Instructor. If the terminal degree is granted after the end of the grace period, promotion to Assistant Professor can only be accomplished through the regular promotion procedure.
