Promotion from Instructor to Assistant Professor. 13.5.1 The formal notice of appointment from the University Librarian to a new Instructor shall specify a time, not to exceed one (1) year from the date of the initial appointment, by which the terminal degree must be completed. If the degree is completed during that time, the University Librarian shall have the authority to recommend to the President a change in title from Instructor to Assistant Professor. If the degree is not completed during the specified time, the University Librarian shall have the authority to provide an additional one-year appointment as Instructor. If the terminal degree is granted after the end of the grace period, promotion to Assistant Professor can only be accomplished through the regular promotion procedure.
