Common use of Ratio Clause in Contracts

Ratio. Where there are four (4) or more journeyman/women employed in a trade in a plant, the ratio of apprentices to journeymen/women in such trade in the plant shall not exceed one (1) apprentice to four (4) journeymen/women, unless the Joint Apprenticeship Committee agrees that the ratio may be increased. If layoffs become necessary apprentices shall be laid off to a ratio of two (2) journeymen/women to one (1) apprentice.
