Common use of Re-Employment of Detroit Teachers/Restoration of Sick Leave Bank Clause in Contracts

Re-Employment of Detroit Teachers/Restoration of Sick Leave Bank. a. A non-tenured teacher who resigns and is subsequently re-employed by the District prior to October 1, 2006 shall be re-employed as a probationary teacher, but shall be given experience credit up to the salary step to which his/her previous District experience entitles him/her or, if it is greater, to the salary step to which he/she is entitled as a result of his/her combined District and other teaching experience within the limits of Section E.2, below. Such non-tenured teachers re-employed on or after October 1, 2006 shall be given experience credit up to the salary step to which his/her previous District experience entitles him/her plus credit for outside teaching experience on the salary schedule as described in Section E.2 below. No teacher shall begin re-employment beyond Step 9 on the salary schedule unless at the time of separation from the District they were at Step 10.
