In the event of an upward realignment and except as noted below, employees will be placed at the step in the new range which equals or exceeds their former salary and will retain their current salary anniversary date. Employees who have been at the top step of the range for more than one (1) year will be placed at the first (1st) step in the new range which provides for the equivalent of a one (1) step increase and shall be eligible for additional step increases (if available) after twelve (12) months at the new step.
