Reduction in Salary or Demotion. 1. No regular employee or limited-term regular employee shall be reduced to a position in a lower class for reasons of unsatisfactory performance or physical disability except for reasonable cause. 2. A written notice of such reduction in salary or demotion stating specifically the cause of the reduction in salary or demotion shall be given to the employee. 3. An appeal of reduction in salary or demotion to a position in a lower class will be initiated in accordance with Section 5 of this Article.
