Reemployment Offers. 15.8.1 Offers of reemployment shall be made either by personal service or via U.S. First Class Mail addressed to the last known address and shall include the specific vacancy and hours being offered, the rate of pay, level of benefits, a current job description, and a mechanism for acceptance or refusal of the offer of reemployment within the prescribed time limit, and a place for the employee's signature. Failure to do so within five (5) working days from the date of personal service or of mailing of the offer of reemployment shall be deemed a refusal of that offer of reemployment. It is the responsibility of each employee on a reemployment list to file with the District Office a current mailing address. 15.8.2 An employee who is laid off and subsequently rehired from a reemployment list shall have the accrued sick leave balance as of the date of layoff reinstated. 15.8.3 Upon reemployment in the classification from which laid off, an employee shall be placed on the former step of the salary range. If reemployed in a lower paid position, the employee shall be placed on the step of the salary range of the lower classification, which is closest to the wage rate of the classification from which laid off. Notwithstanding the provisions of this Agreement relative to step increases, the employee shall be eligible for advancement to the next step of the salary schedule on the first of the month, twelve (12) calendar months after reemployment, less the months of paid service rendered after the previous step advancement.
