Catastrophic Illness Leave. The objective of this section is to allow donation of accrued time to affected employees, so that he/she can remain in a paid status for a longer period of time, thus partially ameliorating the financial impact of the illness, injury or condition. An employee holding a full-time position with permanent status who has completed one (1) year of continuous service shall be eligible for the catastrophic illness leave benefit upon receiving a prior favorable recommendation therefore from the department head concerned and only upon the specific approval of the City Manager. To be eligible for leave under this section, such employee must have sustained or have an immediate family member who has sustained a life threatening or debilitating illness, injury or condition which may require confirmation by a physician, be unable to work at his/her position or any less demanding position to which he/she may be assigned by the department head concerned, and must have exhausted all of his/her accumulated sick leave, vacation, holiday, overtime and all other accumulated leave or pay benefits. Immediate family member for this section is defined as the employee's spouse/registered domestic partner, minor children/step-children/dependents of registered domestic partner (18 years of age or younger), who live in the household. Eligible employees may receive up to a maximum of 1,000 hours of donated leave benefits from full-time employees due to a catastrophic illness. Employee can utilize up to 500 hours of donated sick leave initially. Under extraordinarily desperate conditions, a one-time additional increment of up to 500 hours of accrued vacation leave may be approved by the City Manager. The combination of all such donations would result in time away from work not to exceed twelve months in duration per incident (whether such leave is taken continuously or intermittently). A minimum of one (1) year must elapse following the termination of the catastrophic illness leave before an employee may be permitted further catastrophic illness leave. However, if subsequent catastrophic illness occurs within a year following the termination of the previous catastrophic illness leave, an employee may be permitted to use whatever accumulated paid leave he/she has and then whatever catastrophic illness leave he/she was eligible for but did not use.
Catastrophic Illness Leave. 1. A full-time Employee who has a catastrophic illness will be credited with thirty (30) days of additional paid sick leave if he/she had thirty (30) or more accumulated sick leave days by July 1 of each year. If an eligible Employee had less than thirty (30) days of sick leave days by July 1 of that year, he/she will receive additional paid sick leave equal to fifty (50) percent of his/her total accumulated sick days that existed on July 1 of that year. Upon return to service, any unused catastrophic illness days will be credited to the Employee’s personal accumulated sick leave days.
Catastrophic Illness Leave. Injury Leave Donation The purpose of this plan is to ensure that an employee with a catastrophic illness or injury continues to receive medical benefits during the recovery period and continues to receive his/her regular salary to the extent possible. This will be accomplished through the establishment of a program for leave donations which may be made to a specific individual or to a District-wide leave bank. Catastrophic Illness or injury is defined as one that is expected to incapacitate the employee for an extended period of time, and taking extended time off work creates a financial hardship for the employee because he or she has exhausted all of his or her sick leave and other paid time off. Examples include, but are not limited to, life threatening injury or illness; cancer; AIDS; heart surgery; stroke; etc.
Catastrophic Illness Leave. On a case--by--case basis and with mutual agreement of the Association and the District, any employee may donate accumulated and unused eligible leave credits to another employee when that employee or a member of his or her family suffers from a catastrophic illness or injury.
Catastrophic Illness Leave. 10.14.1 Employees in the bargaining unit may donate accumulated sick leave days to another employee in the Xxxxxx County Unified School District who is in need of additional paid time due to a catastrophic illness. 10.14.2 Days donated will be (seven) 7 hours for the first day, time after the first day (7 Hours) can be donated by the hour. 10.14.3 Whenever an employee is in need of additional time, the employee will contact the Personnel Office who will publish the need throughout the District. Employees who wish to donate will notify the District. Donations will be credited to the recipient’s account as needed. When a donation is credited, the employee donating the leave will be notified of the adjustment to their account. 10.14.3 Once the sick leave donation is credited, it may not be retrieved for any reason. 10.14.4 Each employee must retain at least seventy (70) hours [one year] accumulated sick leave in their individual accounts after any donation of sick leave.

Upon complete exhaustion of the paid illness allowance, personal leave, and vacation provisions of this Agreement, a unit member with a minimum of one (1) year of continuous employment may request from the Superintendent of Schools a catastrophic illness leave. The Superintendent shall convene a joint committee with XXXX representation, chaired by the Chief of Human Capital Initiatives, to review the request. If the joint committee recommends and the Superintendent approves, a unit member may receive up to ninety-five (95) paid illness days. B. Upon exhaustion of such paid catastrophic illness leave, the unit member may reapply for an additional paid illness leave of up to ninety-five (95) days. The granting of such additional leave is discretionary on the part of the Superintendent and is contingent upon the unit member applying for a disability retirement at the time of their application for an additional ninety-five (95) paid illness days and their resigning from employment with the City School District at the end of such leave. No seniority shall accrue during catastrophic illness leave.
Catastrophic Illness Leave. 1. An employee who is, or whose family member is, suffering from a catastrophic illness or injury may request donations of accrued sick leave credits under the catastrophic leave program.

Catastrophic Illness Leave. (a) Upon complete exhaustion of paid illness allowance provisions of this Agreement, a unit member with a minimum of one (1) year of continuous employment from the employee’s most recent date of hire with the Rochester City School District may request from the Superintendent of Schools a Catastrophic Illness Leave. The Superintendent shall convene a joint committee chaired by the Chief of HCI to review the request. The remainder of the joint committee shall consist of the Director of Employee Benefits, Director of Support Personnel Services and the RAP President. If the joint committee recommends and the Superintendent approves, a unit member may receive up to ninety-five (95) illness days. (b) Upon exhaustion of such paid Catastrophic Illness Leave, the unit member may reapply for an additional paid illness leave of up to ninety-five (95) days. The granting of such additional leave is discretionary on the part of the Superintendent and is contingent upon the unit member applying for a retirement (disability or regular service) at the time of their application for an additional ninety-five
