Common use of Refilling Clause in Contracts

Refilling. After the sewer or other work has been laid and proved to be water tight, the trench or other excavations shall be refilled. Utmost care shall be taken in doing this, so that no damage shall be caused to the sewer and other permanent work. The filling in the haunches and upto 75 cm above the crown of the sewer shall consist of the finest selected materials place carefully in 15 cm. Layers and flooded and consolidated. After this has laid the trench and other excavation shall be refilled carefully in 15 cm layers with materials taken from the excavation, each layer being watered to assist in the consolidation unless the Independent Engineer shall otherwise direct.
