Common use of Requests for Leave Clause in Contracts

Requests for Leave. (a) An employee may request a leave of absence, without pay, and such request shall be submitted, in writing, to his immediate supervisor for approval. Except for unforeseen circumstances, all requests for leave of absence shall be submitted in writing two calendar weeks in advance of the date the leave is to commence. Approval for such leaves shall not be unreasonably withheld. (b) Notwithstanding any provision for the leave in this agreement, the Employer will grant leave of absence, without pay to an employee requesting leave for an emergency, maternity or other acceptable circumstance.
