Common use of Save for the Retention Sum Clause in Contracts

Save for the Retention Sum. the full balance of the Contract Sum shall be due and payable on the Practical Completion Date and it is specifically agreed that the Builder shall not be obliged to give the Owner possession of the Property or the Works until such time as all amounts due to the Builder by the Owner, save for the Retention Sum, have been settled in full.
