Common use of Section Bereavement Leave Clause in Contracts

Section Bereavement Leave. In the event of a death in an family, (that is death of father, mother, sister, brother, husband, wife, children, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents, step-parents, and step-children), all related employees shall be entitled to be absent work for a period of up to three (3) consecutive working days, without loss of pay. All related employees shall be entitled to be absent from work for one (1) day to attend the funeral of a sister-in-law, brother-in- law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, and grandparents-in-law, without loss of pay for the (1) day. If the employee requires additional unpaid time off up to twenty (20) days, the Employer will grant the request Section Duty. If an employee is required to serve as in any court of or is subpoenaed to attend a court of law as a crown witness, the employee shall be protected against loss of regular straight time pay for scheduled hours to a maximum of eight (8) hours per day, for twenty (20) consecutive working days in a calendar year, provided that the employee:
