SELECTION LEAVE. Where an employee participates in a personnel selection process, including the appeal process where applicable, for a position in the Public Service, as defined in the Public Service Labour Act, the employee is entitled to leave with pay for the period during which the employee’s presence is required for purposes of the selection process, and for such further period as the Employer considers reasonable for the employee to travel to and from the place where his or her presence is so required.

SELECTION LEAVE. Where an employee participates in a personnel selection process, including the Agency's Staffing Complaint Process, for a position in the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, or the appeal process where applicable, for positions in other Agencies or Departments, (as defined in the Public Service Relations Act) with whom the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has agreements on areas of selection, the employee is entitled to leave with pay for the period during which the employee's presence is required for purposes of the selection process, and for such further period as the Employer considers reasonable for the employee to travel to and from the place where his or her presence is so required.
SELECTION LEAVE. Where an employee participates in a personnel selection process, including the Agency's Staffing Complaint Process, for a position in the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, or the appeal process where applicable, for positions in other Agencies or Departments, (as defined in the Public Service Staff Relations Act) with whom the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has agreements on areas of selection, the employee is entitled to leave with pay for the period during which the employee's presence is required for purposes of the selection process, and for such further period as the Employer considers reasonable for the employee to travel to and from the place where his or her presence is so required. Education Leave Without Pay The Employer recognizes the usefulness of education leave. Upon written application by the employee and with approval of the Employer, an employee may be granted education leave without pay for varying periods of up to one year, which can be renewed by agreement, to attend a recognized institution for studies in some field of education in which preparation is needed to fill the employee's present role more adequately or to undertake studies in some field in order to provide a service which the Employer requires or is planning to provide. At the Employer's discretion, an employee on education leave without pay under this article may receive an allowance in lieu of salary of up to one hundred per cent of the employee's annual rate of pay, depending on the degree to which the education leave is deemed, by the Employer, to be relevant to organizational requirements. Where the employee receives a grant, bursary or scholarship, the education leave allowance may be reduced. In such cases, the amount of the reduction shall not exceed the amount of the grant, bursary or scholarship. Allowances already being received by the employee may at the discretion of the Employer be continued during the period of the education leave. The employee shall be notified when the leave is approved whether such allowances are to be continued in whole or in part. As a condition of the granting of education leave without pay, an employee shell, if required, give a written undertaking prior to the of the leave to return to the service of the Employer for a period of not less than the period of the leave granted. SELECTION LEAVE. The Employer shall compensate an employee at the applicable rate of pay for any lost regularly scheduled work time which results from the employee's participation in a personnel selection process for a position in the Public Service as defined in the Public Service Staff Relations Act, and for lost regularly scheduled work time the Employer considers reasonable for employee to travel to and from the place his presence is required.

  • Election Leave Employees shall be granted unpaid leave of absence to enable them to run for elected public office and if elected, to serve their term(s) of office subject to the following provisions: (a) Employees seeking election in a Municipal, Provincial or Federal election shall be granted unpaid leave of absence for a period of up to (90) calendar days. (b) Employees elected to public office shall be granted unpaid leave of absence for a period up to five (5) years.

Where employees are required by the Hospital to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualifications, the Hospital shall pay the full costs associated with the courses. Subject to operational requirements, the Hospital will make every reasonable effort to grant requests for necessary changes to an employee's schedule to enable attendance at a recognized up-grading course or seminar related to employment with the Hospital."

  • Vacation Leave 11.1 Employees will retain and carry forward any eligible and unused vacation leave that was accrued prior to the effective date of this Agreement.
