Setting Time. When tested by Vicat apparatus method (IS: 4031, Part-5-1988) the setting time of cement shall confirm to the following requirements. a) Initial setting time- Not less than 30 minutes. b) Final setting time- Not more than 600 minutes. The ratio of final penetration measured after 5 minutes of completion of mixing period to the initial penetration measured exactly after 20 seconds of completion of mixing period shall be not less than 50 percent.
