Short Term Disability Benefits. (a) An employee who: (i) has suffered an accident; (ii) is confined to a hospital; or (iii) has suffered an illness and is not at work for seven (7) consecutive days shall be required to apply for Short Term Disability benefits. (b) If an employee is absent from work and in receipt of Short Term Disability benefits, he or she may use his or her earned sick leave credits to make up the difference between the Short Term Disability benefits paid by the insurer and regular earnings based on his or her regular rate of pay.
