Common use of Sick Leave Conversion Option Clause in Contracts

Sick Leave Conversion Option. At the time of separation from District employment due to retirement (as recognized by the Washington State Public Employees Retirement System) an employee, who has been employed by the Xxxxxx Creek School District for at least the five (5) previous years continuously, shall receive pay for accumulated but unused sick leave up to a maximum of one-hundred-eighty (180) days at a rate equal to one (1) days salary for each four (4) full days accrued leave for illness or injury. Unless waived by the Board because of extenuating circumstances such as but not limited to, poor health or family emergency, notification of intent to use the Sick Leave Conversion Option must be made in writing to the Superintendent by January 31, preceding the year of retirement. The money paid pursuant to the provision shall not be included for the purpose of computing a retirement allowance under any public retirement system in Washington and shall be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
